I just followed the post-match interview with Indomitable Lions coach Rigobert Song and I am very angry.
I am very angry because either he is blatantly lying or his eyes and brain no longer allow him to see what others see clearly.
1st lie: HIS TEAM IS THE YOUNGEST IN THE TOURNAMENT
What is he talking about ? “Nominal” age or real age?
Even if we only stick to the nominal age, Aboubakar, Njie, Kemen, Toko, Ngamaleu, Castelleto, Nkoudou, Tcham, Neyou...how old are they? .that he himself dares to give their respective nominal ages.
When we see these players on the field, many look their real ages.
2nd lie: THE PLAYERS’ FAULT
According to him, the players were afraid and could not express their football: this gentleman really takes us for imbeciles.
.- When a coach does not have a typical team at the start of such a tournament and fumbles until the goalkeeper position, how can the players be calm?
- From one match to another, there are 5 changes;
.- In a match as important as yesterday's and against fast and strong Nigerian guys, we introduce as boss of the defense a slow player who has not played for months;
.- During the refreshment break, all the staff, half a dozen people, act as coach and directly give instructions to the players: does this increase the stress that he describes or not?
.- Worse, we see a member of his staff, in this case Kalla, glued to the phone: who is he talking to?
- Who selected these players who are as “young” as they are “stressed”?
APPARENTLY HE WANTS THREE MORE YEARS
.this boy is really not ashamed when he declares that he is under contract and that in 3 years the team will be stronger.
Song is someone that we Cameroonians like because he was an exemplary player and captain. .we also know that he does not have broad enough shoulders to occupy his current position.
But we are lenient towards him because unlike the other, he is not in contempt, arrogance, excess... .this “love” nevertheless has limits: we are not going to let it destroy the only “toy” we have left.
HE SHOULD UNDERSTAND, WITHOUT ANYONE HAVING TO EXPLAIN TO HIM, THAT IT’S TIME TO LEAVE.
NO EXPLANATION WILL CONVINCE US THAT HE IS THE MAN FOR THE SITUATION.
.If the government turns a blind eye again, I very much doubt that we will be able to qualify for the next World Cup.
